Bio

For 25-year Santa Fe resident Janet Asher, matching clients with homes is as much an adventure as her endeavors as a river guide, a teacher, a small business owner and a parent. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Art, Education and Dance from the University of Denver, she obtained certification to teach Montessori school. She moved to Santa Fe and began her 13-year teaching career. Here she started a family and began to explore and fall in love with New Mexico’s stunning wilderness. Janet’s love for the outdoors led her to the river, where since 1992 she and her husband, Jon, have guided rafting and overnight trips for visitors, families, and school groups. Ten years later, the couple decided to go into retail. As an outdoor gear retailer, Janet has strived to understand each customer’s needs. “The same rule applies in real estate,” she says. “Listen well, recognize that everyone is unique, and know that finding the right home takes creativity.
In her free time, Janet can be found exploring mountains and rivers with her yellow lab, Rio, as well as gardening, practicing yoga, and spending time at home with her family. She is a proud contributor to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter, Charter School 37 and Forest Guardians.
Janet’s life in Santa Fe is dedicated to community building, helping others to connect with nature, and contributing to causes that further the preservation of the New Mexico landscape. Guiding you in the search for the home of your dreams is simply an extension of this passion.
